Meet The Stem

Hi, I’m Brianna and it’s a pleasure to welcome you to The Stem – the official blog of Stemilt Growers.

The Stem was born for one reason – to share our love for the fruits we grow with people who want to know more about them. In my five years working for Stemilt, I’ve learned more about apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruits than I ever thought possible. I guess that’s what happens when you work for a family (the Mathisons) who have been living and breathing all things fruit for five generations! Whether it’s in a formal meeting or at the coffee maker, they can’t help themselves from sharing their knowledge and passion for fruit with everyone around them.

Now, it’s my turn to share this knowledge with you. From tips and nutrition information to recipes, do it yourself ideas, and stories from the farm – you’ll find it all on The Stem. We’ll migrate through the seasons so expect lots of cherry, peach, and nectarine posts in the summer months and apple and pear posts the rest of the year.

Lucky for me, I won’t be going at it alone! One of our owners and sales leaders, Tate, happily joined The Stem as our farming expert because he loves getting out in the orchard, and knows way more than I do about growing great apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruits. Lorie, our favorite recipe creator, is going to share her latest fresh fruit recipes and other fun ways for you to use fruit in the kitchen. As things get going here, we’ll be sure to invite some fun guest bloggers to share their fruit knowledge with you too.
