Ingredients
- For the Donuts:
- 1 large Stemilt apple, diced
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cups whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- For the topping:
- Diced Stemilt apples
- 4 Tbsp melted butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- Caramel sauce
With fresh apples, these baked donuts will be the treat of fall. No frying also means they won’t go bad after just one day.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate medium-sized bowl whisk together milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla and apple.
- Fold the wet ingredient mixture into the dry mixture until just combined. Don’t over stir.
- Put the dough into a pipping bag. If you don’t have a piping bag, spoon the dough evenly into the pan.
- Spray the donut pan with cooking spray. Pipe the dough into each donut round in the pan.
- Place in the oven and bake for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from oven and allow the donuts to cool.
- Melt the extra 4 Tablespoons of butter and pour onto a plate.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon onto a separate plate.
- Remove the donuts from the pan.
- Dunk each side of the donut into the butter then the cinnamon sugar to coat the donut.
- Repeat with the remaining donuts until all are topped with cinnamon sugar.
- Drizzle the donuts with caramel and top with diced apples. Serve warm.
